SimpLEE4Kids Christmas project!

@Flip_4 & @sweetmalissa07 here. We were talking one night last week and we came up with a plan that we think might be fun. It would also be a way to spread the word about Lee and share his music while giving back to the community at the same time. We call it SimpLEE4Kids. This could / would be an ongoing project with many different avenues to giving in the future if successful.

We are looking to raise some money in order to buy Lee’s CD when it is released. As it gets closer to Christmas, those CDs would be delivered to a Children’s Hospital of Lee’s choosing (we hope).

This will introduce Lee’s music to children and their families who might not have heard of him due to circumstances beyond their control. Some of these kids have to stay in the hospital for extended periods of time and this is very difficult, especially around Christmas time. A distraction from their illness could be the boost that they need. I also know that young people are very loyal once they like music. I know I’m still loyal to my 80s music from when I was a pre-teen / Teen and it is all part of the “Soundtrack to my life”

We have set up a paypal account and email address where we will be accepting donations, SimpLEE4Kids@yahoo.com . In order to be able to ensure the CDs are delivered on time, we would need all donations in by November 30th, 2010. When sending a donation, please include your name and twitter name if you have one.

We also have a few other initiatives in the works if this one is successful. We really hope that you will be able to participate in any way and help us bring a smile to some kids faces who face difficult times. How cool would it be to light up a child's day with Lee's music?!

We certainly understand how money can be tight in these economic times, but any amount of money, whether it be $1 or $20, would help us get this Campaign off the ground. This would get the word out about Lee and his amazing music. We will also like to hear any ideas or suggestion that you may have. Feel free to send us an email (see above) to let us know. We can't do this alone. We need all the support and participation we can get from all of the wonderful and amazing beLEEvers out there. We're all like one big famiLEE! So what do you say, will you help us help the children? Even if you can't donate you can still help just by spreading the word about this project.

We are aware of the similarities to the Troops idea from the @wyzeguys&gals;We are in no way trying to take anything away from their idea as we have already donated to their project and we plan on donating more in the future. We have spoken with them and we are all in support of each other and BOTH projects as we hope you are too.

*Acknowledgements: We would like to thank a few people that have provided feedback and support for this idea. @WaterfallOWords (for her support, creativity, devotion and contribution to so much of this project!), @LeeDeWyzeIntl and @WasWorthWaiting (@LetsDoThis4Lee), @Wyzeguysandgals, @sassyb7633 and @SiNewsOnTheNet (for all of their ideas and opinions that helped us get this project going). Also big thanks to @leedewyzecom and @truth005 (for allowing us to use their photography. All photographs you see are owned by them.)

Some of you might wonder how this came about. For the past few years, I have had the opportunity and privilege to organize or help organize a Christmas charity campaign at my work for the “Children’s Aid Society” in Ottawa. This has been very fulfilling and I enjoyed every minute of it. Unfortunately, this year it will not be possible to do this. I’m feeling a little lost and wanted to do something for the kids around Christmas. I thought combining my love of Children with spreading the world about Lee would be a fantastic idea.

I always have been more about giving then receiving around this time of year and we're all about doing anything to help further Lee's career. With this project we can do both! What better way to do that than to help out some of these sick children who can't be home for the holidays? How amazing would it be to put smiles on their faces by sharing Lee's music with them? Julie and I would like to personally thank each and every one of you in advance for participating in this charity campaign. This is something we can all benefit from, feel good about and be proud of.

*Disclaimer: We do not know Lee DeWyze and are in no way associated with Lee or his record company. We are only two fans who want to help Lee out while putting a smile on children’s faces.
