Well, I see it's time for another round of Nina's Facts For The Unfactuated!

DISCLAIMER: I do not now, nor have I ever smoked pot or used recreational drugs/prescription or OTC drugs in a recreational manner (except making FANCY ART out of my mum's coloured Tums when I was ten. Boy did I catch hell for that). I am, however, a member of NORML, because I Know My Facts. Let's get a few of them straight, shall we?

Fact #1: Marijuana is not physically addictive. Those who say they are "addicted to pot" are addicted psychologically, just like you can be addicted to sex, porn, the Internet, texting, gambling, World of Warcraft, etc. ANYTHING can be addictive psychologically.

Fact #2: Jury's still out on the exact risk/benefit ratio, but pot has enough health BENEFITS that pot brownies and vaporized pot might actually be good for you. Marijuana smoke has its own risks, but so does ANY smoke, including smoke from the popcorn you burnt last night and bonfire or fireplace woodsmoke.

Fact #3: Storebought cigarettes and commercial tobacco contain 417 separate carcinogens (cancer-causing agents). Not a typo: OVER. FOUR. HUNDRED. Pot contains less than a dozen and unlike tobacco, also contains ANTIcarcinogens.

Fact #4: Pot is legal in Amsterdam.

Fact #5: Pot is a very mild high--you're actually more coherent on a pot high than you are drunk.

Now that we have our pot facts, let's move on to Adam, yes?

Fact #1: He's been smoking pot since he was 22 and isn't a basket case yet.

Fact #2: He's tried other, harder drugs that ARE physically addictive, including ecstasy, and walked away from them without burnout or huge long rehab stays.

Fact #3: It was one joint, in the company of friends he can trust if he gets too high to make his own decisions (unlikely). He did not have to drive, operate heavy machinery, or perform surgery. Nobody else was placed at personal risk because he decided to light up.

Fact #4: He was still able to put on one HELL of a performance up to standard with shows where he has not smoked, which suggests he knows his limit and how he'll be affected, and sticks to it.

If you have such an issue with him partying a little, maybe you should consider if you're actually a fan of ADAM, or of your own mental image of a squeaky-clean, inoffensive, uncontroversial boy next door. If you're interested in the latter and cannot accept that Adam is an adult capable of making his own choices, and that those choices will NOT always be G-rated or acceptable to 100% of the population, Justin Bieber awaits. You can find him on the Disney Channel.

Feel free to retweet if you know someone who needs to be factuated. (Yes, I know that's not a word. But there's a difference between "being educated" and knowing the facts. Hence: factuated.)
