Today is Mohammad Rafi's death anniversary.
The first song that I like to listen today is ' Teri galiyon mein na rakhey ge kadam'
In a sensational career that spanned 4 decades, Rafi sang 26,000 film songs.
Those were the singers..... Mukesh was soulful; Manna Dey classical; Hemant Kumar romantic; Mahender Kapoor patriotic; Talat scintillating and the great Kishore was the ultimate singer.
Rafi too was exquisite. No one sang a qawwali or a bhajan or a ghazal or a romantic song or a patriotic song or a bidaai song or a peppy Punjabi number with the same fluency and ease, like Rafi.
On Rafi's death anniversary, I thank all the singers of the era gone by who entertained us.
After "K for Kishore", I beg SONY TV to come up with "R for Rafi"
