Impaired Driver Arrested with 3-Year-Old in Vehicle
Knox County – Saturday night, October 29, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Senior Trooper Bill Gadberry stopped the driver of 1999 Mercury for committing multiple traffic violations on 6th Street at Dubois Street in Vincennes. The driver identified himself as Warren A. Riker III, 27, of Bicknell. Riker had his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter in the vehicle. During the traffic stop Trooper Gadberry detected signs of impairment. A Knox County Sheriff’s K-9 unit arrived and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in Riker’s vehicle. Riker resisted arrest and attempted to put his hand in his front pocket. After getting Riker handcuffed officers found a hypodermic syringe in his possession. Troopers also found a pill bottle inside the vehicle that contained an unknown powder. Riker was taken to Daviess Community Hospital where further investigation revealed he was under the influence of meth and benzodiazepines. He was taken to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held on bond. The investigation is continuing.
