STOP THE INDISCRIMINATE USE OF TEAR GAS IN #BAHRAIN

We are calling on all people of conscience to stop the indiscriminate and reckless use of tear gas on the citizens of Bahrain.
Used as a crowd-control device in many parts of the world, CS gas, and possibly other chemical substances, are being used as a collective punishment in the towns and villages of Bahrain when no protest or other apparent need for crowd control exists. They are being singled out on a sectarian basis as "enemies of the state" with no regard to the recent BICI (1)report submitted to the King of Bahrain.(1a)
Entire villages and towns are being blanketed on a daily/nightly basis with thousands of shots of tear gas when there is no protest in progress and it's been documented through video and photos that tear gas is being introduced intentionally into homes(2,video 6) where people have no defense whatsoever against prolonged exposure.(2)
Children,(2,photo 3) the elderly, and people with medical conditions are especially vulnerable and under the present regime they are also being denied medical care. Many deaths have resulted in this egregious violation of human rights.(3)
The U.S. government and Brazil are the predominant vendors of CS to the government of Bahrain.(4) It is for this reason, and because the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Defense and Pentagon (5) have decided to move forward with the sale of an arms package including tear gas to Bahrain that we are speaking out with one voice: STOP THIS MADNESS, STOP CONTRIBUTING TO THE DEATHS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.
While national defense is a legitimate need, using tear gas on civilians in their homes does NOT contribute to the national defense of any nation.
We call on all members of the U.S.Congress to speak up for human rights in Bahrain. We respectfully ask them to tell the U.S. Department of State and Defense to discontinue the sale of teargas to Bahrain until it can be assured it will not be misused as it is every day there.
This is an issue of human rights; an issue of the very Right to Life that people, mothers & fathers,(6) all over the world are saying: Please, please, do whatever you can to stop the serious injury and death of innocent Bahrainis.
STOP THE TEAR GAS.
Respectfully,

A citizen of
