AN IDIOTS GUIDE TO McFLY SIGNINGS.

From reading on Twitter, it appears that the Unsaid Things signings are going to be a first time experience for a lot of McFly fans, so here is a guide on how to prepare and what to expect.

1. Be prepared to camp for a ridiculous amount of hours. Wristbands usually go out around 8am/9am so you want to be there as early as possible before that. Once you've got your wristbands, you don't have to stay in the queue all day. If it's not wristbanded, you'll have to be prepared to queue from the moment you arrive.

2. Whether it's wristbanded or not, be prepared to be turned away. Security are only allowed to let a certain number of people in and will not go above this number.

3. Overnight camping is recommended if you want to guarantee a space.

4. To prepare for overnight camping, bring pillows / sleeping bags / blankets. It gets very cold.

5. Bring food and drink with you so you don't have to leave the queue and lose your place to feed yourself. Also, if you're camping overnight then most places don't open until 9am/10am.

6. Go for a wee before you leave the house or prepare to pee in a bush. Most toilets will not be open throughout the night so go before you leave if you're like me and won't go in a bush!

7. Don't turn up drunk or stoned. Security won't let you in and you ruin it for everyone else.

8. Don't take a tent unless you're prepared to leave it behind.

9. Try not to take too much baggage with you as the store will not look after it. Anything you take with you will be on your person at all times.

10. Do not hold a space in the queue for another fan. If they want to get in, they'll have to queue like everyone else. McFly fans get very bitchy when people push in.

11. Be prepared to have a number written on your hand in permanent marker by other fans. This is done to stop queue jumping and make sure that the first people that arrive stay first.

12. Make friends with security. They're usually friendly and like a good chat.

13.   Take a camera! You're meeting the boys so you'll want to take photos of them or video them.

14. Don't expect to have photos taken with them. This is very rare at signings. Expect not to be able to and if you're allowed to, that's a bonus!

15. Don't take other things to get signed. Most signing venues do not allow other items to be signed although you sometimes get the odd security guard who is in a good mood and will allow it.

16. Be careful if you're going to video yourself meeting the boys to try and get you and them in the same shot. Most of the time, it will be fine but if you catch security on a bad day, they will make you delete everything on your camera.

17. Make sure you're hydrated. The last thing security need is you passing out, and you'd miss meeting the boys.

18. Have the book / CD ready where you want it to be signed, before you get to the table.

19. Don't scream in McFly's faces. They don't appreciate it.

20. Try not to cry while you're with the boys. If you're crying, you'll be slower and the fans behind you will get less / no time with McFly at all.

21. Be considerate of other fans at all times. We're all in this together.

22. Do not touch McFly without asking. Don't just dive on them without asking as they won't like it and security will probably kick you out. If you want a hug, ask nicely.

23. Don't expect to be able to have full blown conversations with McFly. Signings are very rushed and if you've spent 30 seconds at the signing table,  you've done well.

24. Don't be disappointed that you didn't get to say everything you wanted to. Signings are to sign things, not to tell them your life story. If you want to do that, aim for a meet and greet or write them a letter.

25. Feel free to give McFly presents although security may not allow you to, it's usually okay.

26. Don't forget to pick up your signed items at the end of the table.

27. Leave promptly, without waiting for your friends. They'll meet you outside. It's easier than being told off  and ushered along by security.

28. If it's not wristbanded, get back in the queue! There's no guarantees you'll be able to meet them again due to time limits but it's worth a try. Chance your appearance slightly (top/hair) so that security don't realise.

29. Don't be afraid to talk to other fans, television and radio presenters or newspaper journalists. They'll all be there!

30. Finally and most importantly, enjoy yourself. :)
