On Thackeray's death my suggestion is we all (re)visit @SalmanRushdie 's Moor's Last Sigh and get (re)introduced to the Mainduck! and then think of some victims down the years..

He is being called a 'tiger' by some, a 'lion' by others. I suppose that's right as long as one neglects the fate of the deer..

of course I have too much respect for those big cats to indulge in such 'naming'..

@SalmanRushdie draws a charming portrait of 60s Bombay in the Ground Beneath her Feet. It seems to me that the Shiv Sena's rise marked the beginning of the end of this great Indian city. Just as well that it has been renamed. Who would wish to confuse the city that has now existed for some decades with the city that once was?
