Happy Thanksgiving

hiya!!

Here in America, today is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It's the biggest family holiday in America. The table is set with all kinds of good food and the highlight of the feast is a big roast turkey. In addition to the turkey, there are salads, mashed sweet potatoes, cold cuts and other savories, and for dessert, apple and pumpkin pie with vanilla sauce. yum!

This year, I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with friends, because my ”siippa” is across the globe. ;) I actually have three Thanksgiving dinners in one day. I've of course promised to go to each. whew.. Maybe I'll end up eating at the first, drinking at the second, and sleeping at the third. hah! I hope not! The first dinner is with my local friends and I thought I'd make some Finnish food! Karelian pasties and egg butter!! I've never made Karelian pasties before, but there's a first time for everything. I may have made them in home ec in school, but I don't remember much about that. But now I decided to go all out and make them from scratch. I went to the grocery store for supplies yesterday and had a really hard time finding short-grain rice and rye flour. Luckily I managed to find the flour and rice at the very last whole food market.

Time to reward all the hard work with a couple of cold ciders! Cheers!! ;)
