Let me share with you some of the comments of the signatories to the petition below. Plse remember it's about the recovery of Indian Heritage looted by European Colonial masters....who lecture and patronize us about Human Rights....Let me explain how the European Union member nations are infringing our right to freedom of faith/worship/belief/freedom of conscience/free speech by hoarding the looted Indian Heritage!
Each Hindu/Buddhist/Jain/Sikh sacred idol/temple jewel/property as the case may be is governed by the relevant religious scriptures of these faiths. They are governed by scriptures in their making/daily pujas/aaraties/veneration etc and not to be on display in European secular institutions. Many of these sacred items were looted after desecrating temples only adds to the gravity of the EU's human rights violations. Religious rights are part of Universal Human Rights as well as European Convention Rights. Moreover receiving and handling of stolen(looted) goods is a criminal offence throughout Europe!
Each ancient Indian manuscript in European Custody is a theft of Intellectual Property rights associated with the manuscript concerned. If it is a sacred manuscript it is also an infringement of religious rights. Imagine India were to have custody of the original Bible or Quranic manuscripts after looting
them!
