Twelve Olympians:

Zeus gave other gods what to rule and all gods had their strengths and weaknesses, only Zeus was kinda pro at everything. They all had feelings like humans, but they demanded respect from humans. When a god gives his word that he will do something, he will do it, but when he swears in the name of the river Styx, the river that's border between the underworld and the human world, there was nothing in the world that will make the god break his word (in greek: sta idata tis Stigas). They fed with ambrosia and drank nectar, but they accepted sacrifices that were fruits or animals. Out of all Greek gods 12 were respected the most, they decided the fate of mortals and they were mostly prayed to, these gods are: Zeus, Hera, Athena, Poseidon, Demeter, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares, Hephaestus and Hestia.

-And those are the Twelve Olympians, you can see how important was it when Zeus, Poseidon and Hades drawn straws, Hades got the smallest, he got the underworld, he wasn't respected as much as his brothers were.
