The amounts indicated are way off the mark and all those involved are party to this utter deceit and contempt shown to all.
Sports hacks are known to take a punt at times, but here we see club officials knowingly engage with 'journalists' where further stories are planted or pre approved.
Why did Alistair McCoist knowingly engage in such an operation?
There are victims and plenty of them. Players reputations are damaged, fans hopes are crushed, amongst others.
Once you have lost trust, the game's a bogey.
