Irony of Ironies -- An Iranian-American axis is offering to help Maliki?

“We need night vision goggles and we need a lot of military helicopters to secure those border areas,” one senior military commander ...

[We should help defend innocents from these ISIS terrorists, esp. since our aid may have indirectly propped them up in Syria.]

When Syria started to go up in flames, the Saudi-American axis moved in behind the rebels.

But as Iraq ignites, an Iranian-American axis is offering to help Maliki.

Keep this in mind when you hear calls for a surge into Anbar.

And remember, too, last week's droll observation by Anthony Cordesman of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies:

''The whole idea that we have some magic wand hasn't worked out that well.''
