30 years ago I was a biker, and I'd be riding on icy roads from October to March, and unfreezing my hands on the cylinder block at every set of traffic lights!
My greenhouse would be double-glazed and heated from September onwards.
In 1976, backpacking in the Peak District in May, I got hit by a blizzard. Ditto on the Cleveland Way, a couple of years earlier.
The winter just gone, though, I didn't see one single frosty morning. Just incessant rain.
