Racing to a new PB at the MAA Triathlon

MAA Dorney Lake Olympic Triathlon 27/06/14

Today I arrived at the MAA Tri with my head full of Coach Musty's advice and feeling good and up for it. The event was not particularly well attended and the Olympic Triers numbered 2 dozen or so.

We got into the water at 10am and with the calm warm waters of the lake to greet us, the two lap circuit did not look too intimidating. My swim coach, Martin Bay has been working on me to kick less and be 'quiet' in the water. With this in my head I achieved my first new PB of the day despatching the 1500m swim in 36 minutes.

Another first for the day was using my Planet X Tri bike in race mode. Whilst the wind was rather unhelpful today with no particular tail or head wind I completed the bike in 1:20, an average speed of 30km/hr. I was chuffed; another PB.

I was flying now and Coach musty has been working on my running technique. He must be good ch minutes faster than my previous PB and an Olympic Tri finish of 2h 58m. At last I have broken the 3h time and I am really pleased.

Thanks to Musty and Martin. Bring on the MK Tri!
