My ex complained that I was far too independent for my own good. I sometimes think - as others have made the same point - she might have been right.

I'm always happy to help others if I can, even if it's only sharing what I know, which is what a large part of my blog is about (not sharing knowledge is inexcusable and devalues both it and the person hoarding it).

In my teens, at school, too sick for sports or PE, our Form Master, who taught English, saw to it that I got all the extra English lessons and exam papers he could find. 30 years later, by way of giving something back, I trained and worked as an Adult Literacy Tutor. Turned out teaching was something I was pretty good at.
