Dancer’s Forum

DANCERS!!! This is an opportunity for YOUR voices to be heard!
The historic Vision Theatre in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles will be closed beginning in April of 2015 for the purposes of renovation and restoration. We would like to invite YOU, the dance community, to hear from city leaders in the Department of Cultural Affairs, Vijay Sehgal, Founding Partner of FSY Architects, Inc., Sherri Franklin, Principal of Urban Design Center, and moderated by Stephen Semien, Founder/Artistic Director at Urban Arts Theater West. The dancer’s forum will provide an opportunity to address any concerns and interests in an open forum discussion in the design and restoration of the Vision Theatre with respect to dance.
This event will take place during the 1st Annual Leimert Park Theatre Festival, which is scheduled for August 28-31, 2014. The Dancer’s Forum will take place on Friday, August 29th, at 5:00pm, the 2nd day of the Theater Festival. The four day event will become a major part of future seasons at the Vision with stage readings of more than 12 plays shared at several locations in the Leimert Park Village area, including: Barbara Morrison’s Performing Arts Center, Fernando Pullum Performing Arts Center, KAOS Network, and the Regency West.
The Leimert Park International Dance Association’s goal is to:
allow dancers to share and specific concerns and ideas for the restoration/renovation process facilitate a productive discussion regarding dancers special needs for a safe and successful theatre space inform the dance community (dance companies, choreographers, students of dance, dance equipment company representatives, professional dancers, etc. of the design plans intended in 2015, as well as the programming of dance in future plans.
We welcome this opportunity to all invited guests to present their interest of dance in the restoration of the Historic Leimert Park Vision Theater.
