Unpopular opinion: Ricky Gervais is right

I've seen a lot of articles on Facebook and Twitter yelling at @RickyGervais for victim blaming and supporting rape culture based on a tweet he posted after the female celebrities had their private information hacked.

What happened to them was 100% disgusting and a major invasion of privacy. The hacker should be found and arrested. But for people to just automatically link it to rape culture and not also see that people need to learn to protect themselves from the internet are missing Ricky's point.

He was absolutely right, It should be common sense for anybody...ANYBODY, not just celebrities, that putting naked photos in a cloud, in a Dropbox, or anywhere that isn't disconnected from the internet carries the inherent risk of those photos being stolen and leaked.

This isn't a case of Ricky saying "Well, you deserve it based on what you're wearing," but a case of Ricky saying, "Don't be daft, you've seen it happen to other people, what makes you think YOU are immune? Keep that shit off the network, dummies!"
