@danyull_ The sidewalks were in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). There was no option but to replace the sidewalk and any tree that will either upend it, or die because of it, as to ensure ADA compliance and public safety. I have ordered the Department of Public Works to plant new trees and ensure the community has more trees at the end of this project than existed prior to the projects start.
