Review: Queen + Adam Lambert in March issue of Rock & Pop magazine CZ & English

Review of concert in March issue of Rock & Pop magazine Czech Republic
QUEEN with Adam Lambert
Queen called up to the office a new queen. And she did well.

**** Prague Czech Republic, O2 Arena, 17.2.2015

Grandiose sound and theatrical stenography as well takes the audience into the action just within the opening song One Vision. Next ones Another Bites The Dust and Fat Bottoms Girls are pacing pretty in tempo and the beginning of the concert of Queen has really speed-up. From the original line-up came to Prague guitar player Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor – bass guitar player John Deacon is not joining the renewed band for a long time. As a second drummer on tour is very young Rufus Tiger Taylor, as a bass player Neil Fairclough and as a keyboard player Spike Edney. But everybody is primarily curious for a new singer Adam Lambert. And he proves that he is worthy deputy (not replacement). He has not only vocal range that is needed but also has talent for locomotion and acting. He struts peacocking along the catwalk to the chaise longue and fan himself with a fan. He sings off gingered up hit Killer Queen. He thanks to the audience, to the band, he pays tribute to Freddie. He is shining with sincere energy singing next song I Want to Break Free.
After that Brian May´s white head flashes in the lights when he takes his acoustic guitar and in song Love Of My Life he reminiscences of Freddie. For 39 and These Are the Days of Our Life he gives the sceptre to Roger Taylor. The songs are added with amusing authentic videos from early times of this legendary band. Roger is rewarded with well deserved huge ovation. From other hits are not missed Under Pressure, Save Me, Who Wants To Live Forever, I Want It All, Radio Ga Ga or Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Whole show is closed predictably with Bohemian Rhapsody when Lambert is live swapping verses with Freddie from recording. Encore We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions gives feeling of team winning after more that two hour long battle with prejudices and expectations.
Concert today’s Queen naturally can’t be as it was with Mercury. Nevertheless it is a smash even with the “new one” Adam Lambert. It´s truth that overacted emotions and huge disco ball is at the edge of kitsch but is needed to keep in your mind that is it Queen and not Led Zeppelin. In case you went to reminiscence and listen to the old hits you were there properly and you had a great time. Royal time thanks to the Queen!
