Reading 'The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents" in 2001 was my introduction to Discworld. It truly impacted me. It was the first book I had laughed over, and cried over. The first time I had felt grief over the loss of a character. An obsession with discworld was born. I laughed, I cried, developed my love for the fantastical and frank.
On hearing a fellow Pratchett fan would be directing a production of 'Mort' in 2008, I expressed my desire to be involved. I believe I expressed that desire many times over in the most excited of ways.
Terry has impacted my life in many ways, developing my taste in humour and shaped how I saw the world. I am one of few people who can say, for a brief moment in Kalgoorlie in 2008, I got to live in Discworld.
I cherish that experience today and everyday, and the memories I carry from it. I also cherish the times in boarding school, using the street light to read in my window, needing to know what would happen next in Discworld, trying to stifle my laughter or tears, so that I would not be caught out.
A quote from The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents; "If you don't turn your life into a story, you just become a part of someone else's story".
Terry, you definitely shaped and became a part of mine and for that I will be forever grateful.
