Adam Lambert has a liking in Swedish dance pop. “The Original High” is his best album.
The end of theatricality! This should be short definition of the new Adam Lambert´s album.

The singer stripped down all his glam and the only glamour he left is his golden voice. Surrounded by star team he releases his strongest album so far – The Original High.

Evaluation: 8/10

There are three years since releasing Adam Lambert´s latest album called Trespassing. But he really didn´t idle within that period. He acted in some episodes of Glee and primarily he has been on world tour with legendary band Queen, where he has uneasy role – to hold the sceptre after died god Freddie Mercury. And he rose to the occasion with honour – what could be confirmed by attenders of the February Prague stop.

Production of The Original High is under competence of time-proven Swedish creating duo Max Martin and Shellback – they are responsible for successful album “1989” by Taylor Swift. Gaining of these executive producers is possible to consider Adam´s the most clever career move.

According to the first single Ghost Town was clear which direction took the new album. And that we can look forward to the new music face of Mr.Lambert too. The song with unexpectedly dark atmosphere starts with pleasant guitar line reminding of “What´s Up” by 4 Non Blondes and in minute turns into the mix of hypnotic dance beats which is intensified by magic whistling. You don´t need to wait too long for next dance smashers. Right the title song or tracks “Another Lonely Night” or pulsing anthem “Evil In The Night” could literally destroy not just one dance floor.

But it is not just playful pop. There is possible to find in “Underground” – there are very well accented Adam´s silky smooth vocals in that and the reminiscence of how bittersweet love can be – R&B elements just as in amazing duet featuring Swedish pop sensation Tove Lo. Fusion of their voices is literally magical.

Another – nearly obligatory – cooperation had to arise with Brian May – with accompaniment of his guitar the singer turns in “Lucy” into the rock star and proves why he was chosen as frontman for the Queen tour. The most heart-rending moment Lambert hides for the only one ballad on the album dedicated to his lover. It is called “There I Said” and emotions and vulnerability penetrating through his singing move to tears. His vocals and famous falsetto are in this ballad damn strong. There is proved again here how outstanding singer is the former American Idol finalist.

There is no doubt that Adam Lambert made his best and the most coherence album. His voice exploring new sounds and colours is stronger than ever before. Dance rhythms work excellently and well-made invasions into R&B indicate direction which he could follow in future.
