Glamberts! I wrote something about this morning with @AlliaDKennedy. Enjoy! 😄

21/1/16

It’s 10.18 and I just got home from the airport. I figured I better write all of this down before I go off on another adventure!

Where do I begin? Well, I got about three hours of sleep last night and it felt like Adam was very far away when my alarm went off at 5am. But I got up and ready very quickly, and within a few minutes all of my excitement from last night came flooding back.

To my great surprise, I was actually a little bit early when I picked Allia up, and a lot early by the time we got to the airport. We parked and secured our spots at the front of the international arrivals area. I felt like an expert walking through the airport because I’ve done it all before!

Then, we waited. The flight landed at 7.37am (I am so glad that Linda posted a link to the Flight Aware website on the Glitter Tribe page last night, otherwise I wouldn’t have known it was running early). I thought they might get through customs quickly, being stars and potential first class passengers and everything. But that was not the case.

I was worried, but Allia didn’t seem to be. She was watching the shoes underneath the barrier, and after what felt like a very long time, she said, “they’re creepers!”

I had about one or two seconds to register the yellow creepers, thought briefly that it might be someone else, and then spotted the silhouette of a coat that belonging to an Instagram picture from last night. And just like that, Holly appeared!

I gasped as the shock set in. She looked a little lost. After watching her glance around for a bit, I called her name. Allia followed, and we smiled. She smiled back. “Hi!” I said. “Welcome to New Zealand!”

“Thanks!” she replied, and then she was off in the direction of the main exit.

After freaking out a little bit, we resumed waiting. It wasn’t long before Allia spotted another figure behind the barrier. “He’s tall,” she said, but I didn’t pay that much attention. Tall doesn’t necessarily mean Adam.

But it WAS Adam!

He walked out from behind the barrier in double denim. His jeans and jacket matched; blue, with a light acid wash. He was wearing a black cap and kind of orange-tinted, reflective sunglasses. I have to admit that I barely recognised him.

But then Allia said “Adam!” and I realised it was him. I smiled hugely as she called out again, and he turned his head to look for the source of the voice. His eyes caught mine just as I was smiling. “Hi,” he said, smile reflected on his face. “Hey,” he repeated, with a little wave.

He, and the random group he was with, started walking towards his people then. Allia and I ran around to meet them, and I saw him shake hands with an old man who I assume was from Warner Music. But by the time we got there, he had his back to us and was already leaving. For some reason my eyes focused on his boots, which were black with zips and a bit of a fold over the top. My only coherent thought was, “I want his shoes!”

As the group left, Allia started talking to me, but I couldn’t take my eyes off him. He is magnetic. He was so skinny; his outfit was perfect. He looked stunning.

It was over very quickly, and we waited for what felt like another eternity. I remembered to check the clock, though, and for future reference: it took just over an hour from when the plane landed for Adam to emerge from the arrival doors.

Eventually, we saw Adam Ross, Darwin, Rob and Brook arrive. We didn’t say hi to them because we didn’t want to mess up their names, but we got increasingly excited each time.

Finally, long after everyone else, Terrence appeared. He was the one person we really wanted to see besides Adam, because we knew we probably wouldn’t have another chance to do so. And for me, Terrence is one of my heroes. I knew it would be an honour to meet him.

This time, I was prepared. I saw him out the back – I recognised his shirt and hat – and Allia and I called out his name in unison. We were smiling, and I think he was, too.

Terrence was the only person to come up to the barrier to see us. “Can we please have a photo?” Allia asked, followed by, “we’ll go ’round.”

We went quickly then, and went over to where Terrence and Brook were standing. “Welcome to New Zealand!” I said. Allia told me to go first, and I replied that I would take a photo of her and Terrence after. As I was getting my camera ready, she asked Terrence how he looked so good after a twelve hour flight. He laughed, and it kind of broke the ice. I said, “your accent is so cute!” and he joked, “I try!”

We took our photos after that. He smelled like gum and looked like an angel. He was taller than I expected and 19743829 x more beautiful in real life. Then it was time to go. “Enjoy the concert!” he said, and I told him that I hoped he would have a good trip.

And that was it. I can hardly believe that it’s 11am and I’ve already seen Rob and practically the whole band, plus met Adam, Holly and Terrence! One thing is for sure – this adventure is going to be a good one. Onward and upward!
