Editor, Phil Taylor's take on our Summer Programme here at Uxbridge

CLASS ACT: Bill Perry is one of the many fine musicians and singers performing at Howick Village’s Fencible Walk in the coming weeks as part of the free Summer Boost public arts and entertainment programme, February 20-March 12, presented by Uxbridge – Howick’s treasured arts and culture centre.

Events to stimulate the senses

THERE is plenty of variety for people of all ages in an exciting public arts, activities and entertainment programme being offered in Howick over the next month.
With funding from the Howick Local Board and Creative Communities, Uxbridge – Howick’s treasured public arts and cultural centre, is presenting a schedule that delivers fun and interesting events that the whole family can participate in and enjoy.
All of the activities and entertainment in Summer Boost is available free to the public in the heart of Howick Village. It includes live music from talented local artists, storytelling, art projects and large-scale outdoor games.

“We’re also calling for people to contribute to our public art project which will unfold as the four weeks progress,” says Ashley Grogan, Uxbridge’s programmes manager and co-ordinator of the Summer Boost schedule.
“There’s no expertise required, only enthusiasm. Each day will also be rounded off with a great open-air family movie in the evening, so bring your blankets, bean bags and loved ones to snuggle down with under the stars.”
Fencible Walk, in Picton Street, is the stage for the Family Garden programme, each Saturday from February 20 to March 12, 10am to 3pm. Entry is free.
It’s also the cosy outdoor theatre setting for the Movies Under The Stars season, on Saturdays February 20 to March 12.
It’s free entry to the family films that start rolling at 8.15pm: E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, on February 20; The LEGO Movie, February 27; The Goonies, March 5; and, Night at the Museum, March 12.
