My feelings on the future of metal gear

The main thing that fascinates me about metal gear is Kojimas authorship over it, how so much of his personality, his quirkiness and weirdness comes through, how his will comes through it. It's what separates it and puts it above any other series to me and why it will always be my favourite series of all time. Metal Gear just has this one element that I've never seen in any other series. Even the game I dislike the most in the series and a game I find unbearable to sit through at times, MGS4, still fascinates the absolute hell out of me because deep down, its the story of this tired creator trapped in a cage he wants to get out of, but still forcing himself to try and pass on some kind of meaningful message.

The big reason why the possibility of future metal gear just sounds so horrible to me is because of how Kojima was so obsessed with finding a successor after MGS2, and how so much of the stories and characters were inspired by this obsession with the legacy of the series, himself, and his team taking over. His frustrations with failing what he set out to accomplish with MGS2 and having to come back again and again, making games about the frustrations of making games, and it all culminating in this disastrous Konami fiasco is just so tragic. He gets pushed out the door and the legacy is left to a bunch of Konami executives trying to find some group of devs to make some tasty McDonalds Metal Gear. What an ending to Kojimas Metal Gear.

Passing the series down to a team of people who knew how to communicate the spirit of Metal Gear and making games to pass on your philosophies and ideas to players was so very important to Kojima and I just find it so horrible how it has ended and how people genuinely want more remakes and boss ww2 games without even caring about the group of people behind it. If whatever metal gear comes next is with a different cast of characters in a different timeline it will be somewhat bearable and maybe still decent entertainment, but a new main entry in the current timeline or a remake of the mg's starring one of the snakes or the boss really really turns my stomach. There's no chance in hell Konami will assemble a team that are worthy to make those games. Main entry mgs games come from the soul, reinvent themselves time after time, trying to push the technology to its limits. You cant just shit out a boss ww2 game or an msx remake. Rant over.
