Kang Sora: Short Interview In SURE August 2016

About 5 years ago, when I (the reporter) met Kang Sora by chance at a studio, my first impression of her was that she's gentle but yet a strong lady. The reason I remember Kang Sora with these two words that carry contrasting meaning towards each other was this. At that time, for some unavoidable reasons, the filming was delayed for more than 1 hour, so it was a nerve-wrecking situation to the staffs in-charged, but not her; the main star of the photoshoot. She was strangely calm and cheerful. The staffs should be all perturbed but she made them feel at ease. "Was I like that before? Since I always meet and work together with new people, I try not to make others cater too much only to my standard." Before I had the chance to told her about this 'episode' when I first met her, I met Kang Sora again at Paris. "Hello!" With that one word she greeted me with a bright smile and somehow I felt comfortable. [Photoshoot in Paris] is a short getaway we gave to Kang Sora who's now slowly but continuously walking at a steady career path as an actress. And we asked implicitly about the things we're curious to know after she goes back to her daily life.

Reporter: From [Misaeng]'s Ahn Young-I, to [Warm & Cozy]'s Lee Jung Joo and even [Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho]'s Lee Eun Jo, it seems you keep working without break. What are your days like, not as the actress Kang Sora but as a youth in her 20s?

KSR: I have some free time these days, so I started doing my overdue body workout back. I'm also reviewing some new scripts that I got recently and sometimes I met with my friends whom I didn't get to meet when I was busy. Ah, since I've started to gain much interest in interior decoration and art exhibition, I tried to get to know more deeply about those things either through SNS or magazines.

Reporter: So that's why your recent art exhibition-related posts on your instagram seemed pretty stand out.

KSR: Since I'm still at the stage where I'm just observing things after getting interested, I don't think it as my absolute interest or liking yet. If my interest in it were to change, I would probably only interested in paintings like I used to be. These days, if there are some certain paintings that I like, I will search for the artists' SNS and follow them. I want to know more about their previous works. How was this painting was drawn this way, what was the story behind the painting and how the artist's style changed over time, I'm curious to know about these things. You know how actors like to retrace the 'world' of filmography directors they admire. Getting to know such things are fun and interesting to me.

Reporter: I've also seen your pictures when you were vacationing with your friends not long ago. I'm curious to know what kind of image you have when you're among your friends. Do you have some kind of nickname you use between you and them?

KSR: I don't have any nickname or any alias name. To think about it, I haven't asked anybody about how do they think of me. Now that you've said it, I suddenly became really curious about it myself. What was I seen as, through my friend's eyes.

Reporter: From what I see, I feel that you have overflowing positive energy. And you don't even look like that you're shy or awkward towards strangers. (That day was our first filming but I felt like I've been knowing her for a long time)

KSR: Thank you for your favorable remarks. Actually I too, used to be a little shy towards strangers but my personality has changed. If I'm passive when I'm working, it would be hard to communicate with other people. When you said that you can feel positive energy from me, I take it as a compliment that really makes me feel good about myself. I usually think the time when I need to control my own self is an important part of my life. When I'm having a hard time or when I become depressed, rather than staying at home I prefer to distract myself doing something else. For example, I would go out meeting friends or doing some exercises. I wouldn't let my body stay still doing nothing. I feel like I can relieve my stress, if I keep doing something. I guess it's my nature that I don't like to stay still not doing anything.
