I miss the early days of Blip.fm. Initially, and for the most part, the account holders were upbeat and light and very interactive with one another. There was a keen sense of fun and joy when sharing music with hundreds of people from one side of the globe to the other. There was an overall friendliness and camaraderie and kindness extended to everyone.

Presently, the predominant atmosphere on most any given day/evening is one of exclusion. It seems there are a couple of online cliques (A friend of mine calls them, “gangs.”) that by their mere existence, limit, or outright restrict, interaction with others. Sadly, to remain and continue to participate on the site, I would have had to lower my expectations too severely --- and it was simply no longer worth the frustration.

Perhaps, it is something one has to experience to truly grasp. It may be a “you had to be there” sort of thing to really get it. All I know is --- the chill/the freeze-out was unmistakable. It was not a fun time.
