Network Rail spokesperson apologises for the disruption this evening.

“An earlier broken down train at London Bridge is causing disruption to services to and from Charing Cross, in addition to the knock-on effects of earlier signalling problems between Lewisham and Charing Cross. The train has been moved and services are running, but there are delays as a result and Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge stations are all very busy this evening.

“Network Rail and Southeastern are working together to minimise disruption and get people home as quickly and efficiently as possible. We know the service on this part of the network has not been acceptable today and we apologise to passengers for the disruption to their journeys.

“The new concourse at London Bridge allowed us to safely and effectively manage the situation this evening without having to close the station to passengers – as would undoubtedly been the case prior to this week.”
