Days of Our Lives and All My Children star Patricia Barry dead at 93

Patricia Barry, who had notable turns on Days of Our Lives, All My Children and Guiding Light, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 93. The actress died peacefully in her Los Angeles home, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Barry scored her first film role in 1946's Her Kind of Man after she won a Rita Hayworth lookalike contest and was signed to Warner Brothers. She continued in movies and minor television roles until 1971, when she landed the part of Addie Horton Williams on Days of Our Lives. She starred on the long-running NBC soap for three years before becoming Peg English -- an international drug cartel leader -- on All My Children. In 1984, Barry joined her third soap, Guiding Light, where she played Miss Sally Gleason for three years.

The actress also created her own successful business outside of the silver screen. She began leasing fully furnished homes to visiting actors, directors and producers in Los Angeles and New York. Some of her clients included Peter Ustinov, Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward and Angela Lansbury.

Barry was awarded the Women in Film's prestigious Founder's Award in 1999.

Barry is survived by her daughters Miranda Barry -- a former executive in charge of global Sesame Street productions -- and Stephanie; son-in-law Mark; grandchildren Alixanne and Hailey; and godchildren Tracy and Stephen.
