RIP, Sid O’Linn. The man who batted for about 300 odd minutes to compose a tenacious 98 against the duo of Trueman and Statham at Trent Bridge in 1960.

South Africa were bundled out for 88 in response to England's 287. The Proteas then were reduced to 23 for 3 after following on. O'Linn, however, merged temperament with technique to compile an innings of 98 before Colin Cowdrey plucked an excellent catch at perhaps third man.

He played football for South Africa and Charlton Athletic, too. Of course, his birth was registered as "Sidney O'Linsky".
