Why mindfulness meditation?


I don’t wish to pass judgement as to why but this article stops far short of explaining. Yes the action required is mindfulness meditation, yes the methodology put forward for mindfulness meditation can work if you persevere. But where is the why?

Yes we live with multiple personalities; “personalities” is too strong a word, he used “modules” – that is better. So why does sitting still and breathing help control these modules? Because when you sit and meditate you can develop a clarity of mind that sees these modules for what they are, and you can move beyond them. Detachment.

Suppose you have an active angry module like I have. Trump happens and I get angry. What good is that? Mindfulness meditation helps me develop a sense of calm so that when Trump does his nastiness I can see my angry module and detach from its effect. It is the clarity and detachment that comes from mindfulness meditation.

Do it, you will see. Maybe the guy was just writing an article and doesn’t do it – that could explain the lack of why.
