T 3091 - An opinion for Ef :

Knowing something is not a reason for indifference...

I'll give you a few examples...

I say: "I saw Amitabh Bachchan near Bandra railway station..."

Other person says: "Oh ok... I know Amitabh Bachchan... "

I change the topic...

...

I say: "I have read a nice story by Tagore yesterday"

Other person says: "Oh ok... I know Tagore.."

I change the topic...

...

I say: "There was a terror attack in Kashmir.."

Other person says: "Oh ok... I heard about it..."

I change the topic...

...

And many many such... The moment you say something, the other person brushes it aside with, "I know..."

And I change the topic...

Four reasons why I change the topic...

1) The person may be indifferent to the topic

2) The person is too weak to feel anything...

3) Each person need not have an opinion...

(The third one is not easily understood... Having an opinion without assessing is like punishing a thief to protect the right to show off... Opinions become such laws eventually...)

----

But the most important reason why I change the topic is because, I think, those who become indifferent after knowing something, do not deserve to know what I feel about it...

Also, my feelings need not be important to them...

(And obviously they never are... A feeling is not an opinion... It is an unassessed reaction... An instinct... Why should anyone indulge in somebody else's instincts? Each person has a personal set of instincts to mind... )

----

And above all,

If I know something then I am never indifferent... I have always taken pride in knowing...

Knowing something is not a reason for indifference... That is a sign of indifference to self-esteem...

And, sharing knowledge is a choice... it does not mean indifference...
