to my community

For the last 3.5 years I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know, looking out for, and gaming with an amazing individual from my community, Shrekminions. Shrek has autism, and epilepsy and has always been open about it by referring to them as her 'super powers'. Anytime anyone in my community expresses any kind of sadness, anger, or frustration, Shrek is always the first to offer a helping hand. Shrek is one of the strongest people I know and has one of the biggest hearts. I have interacted and met a lot of people and I never thought the selflessness that Shrek possesses was possible in a world outside of movies and books. I am so happy that I had the chance to meet and hang out with her. My community and I will miss her dearly.

I want to also thank my inner community for helping to protect her by being selective and keeping the circle limited to good and trustworthy people, I am proud of all of you, and from both me and her guardian, we thank you.

For those of you wondering why I am updating you here on twitter, I've been in communication with her guardian, Shane, for the last month or so regarding this sad and tough news, and with how much she expressed to him that my community and I positively impacted her life, we both found it fitting to immortalize her strong connection to our community here on our platform.

Here are words from her guardian Shane to update you on exactly what is going on,

"Shrek has an amazing world that she lives in, I hope you all feel such privilege that she allowed you to be part of it, The barriers she faced in the 'real world' were almost non-existent in her online safe space. She found her voice, her fun, her normality and her friends. She could anything and be a part of social circles I could never have imagine, She had an online army of protection; I saw it all. The advice, the bans, the blocks, the shield that I can only describe as an extension of the protection I provided at home, right there, in her online world and I thank each and every one of you for that. The circle of compassion that surrounded her was a blessing and I hope you are proud that you were part of it.

Unfortunately, this final battle 'Shrek' is enduring is no longer one she will be able to win. She has put up an amazing fight, but she now needs time to rest. Arrangments are being made and we aim to bring her home just shy of her 21st birthday and support her through the end stages of her life; be it days, weeks or months we don't know for sure."

I ask you guys, please, even if you didn't have the pleasure of meeting her in my community, leave some kind words on his post on her page @shrekminions.

Thank you.
