114. In Between Series (2020)

So, I realized that I should have made a separate thread for the BL series bec I definitely have a different set of criteria that I’ve been following specifically for BLs but anyway, I’m still giving a high rating to this show because I appreciate the writing and the storyline that they created for the show. It had a more unique and mature approach becausw the characters here are not highschool or college students. I’m just a lil bit off with the overused flashback scenes. They could’ve finished this whole series in just 10 compacted episodes more than 20mins but my rating goes beyond the technicals. I actually really liked the unique plot - it wasn’t a boy-meets-boy kind of plot like most of the BLs plus the cinematography made it feel like an indie short film. The chemistry of the whole barkada was natural and realistic. I can relate to the friends so much and they reminded me of my own barkada way back in college. They gave so much color to the story. At the end of the day, it was a story of friendship too. The first few episodes were really good in terms of the non-linear style of editing (also, unique to other BLs). I didn’t get why a lot of people were confused with the storyline. Was it too hard to absorb and analyze nonlinear storylines? Tbh, I liked it and I didn’t have a problem with it. It’s also a good thing that I watched it when the whole series was finished bec i won’t have any patience for an overstretched plot but at the end of the day, it was a good storyline depriciated a little by the overstretching and overusing of the episodes.
