Carnival info ... Long Tweet ...
The Mardi Gras Carnival is before Lent and ends Shrove Tuesday - it means Fat Tuesday in French ...
Its not Spring so this carnival needs another name ...
Mediterranean people have their names given to them according to the day they are born: they don't celebrate actual birthdays but celebrate on their name day - that is the day of the saint their parents want them to follow.
These name days are different in the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox world.
Aug 17th as a Greek Name day has these names:-
LEFKOTHEA (Lefkothea) 17 August
MIRON (Myron, Myra, Mirka) 17 August
Check online (the info cd be wrong of course!) its ok for fun.

Apologies to Greek folk, no harm intended.
Have you heard of the 'University of Mardi Gras'? It's a bit dodgy ...
