The shows that come to us quickly generally fall into one of the following: large budgets - therefore studios/financiers are getting their ROI with overseas sales; obtaining overseas investment from the start or a show like NCIS where it does well on the channel so they're willing to pay a premium to screen it almost concurrent. Doesn't stop successful shows like "Glee" being poached by another UK network willing to pay an upped asking price due to success. Whatever the circumstances, a US show will always air in US first. It's a fairly cut-throat business.
